Woodcrete ICF is made from recycled material – waste wood, which is a by-product of the timber industry. Durisol wall form units are fully recyclable.

Low carbon

In terms of resource depletion and carbon costs, Durisol’s net cost is approaching neutral. Although cement is used during production and in the construction of the walls, there are various compensating factors which reduce our carbon count, namely:

  • To create woodcrete, we use waste wood which would otherwise be left to rot as landfill and release carbon back into the atmosphere.
  • Once the wood is mineralised and encased in cement, it won’t rot or burn and in effect the embedded carbon is permanently captured and locked in.
  • During manufacture, the setting wall form units give off enough heat that we don’t need to use energy to warm the factory.
  • All our woodcrete ICF is made in a factory in South Wales using UK-sourced materials, thereby reducing our carbon footprint.

Energy efficient

Woodcrete ICF is highly energy efficient. The wall form units have excellent thermal insulation properties without thermal bridges which can deliver low u values. Buildings made from Durisol ICF have low energy demands.


Woodcrete ICF is kind to the environment as it doesn’t contain or emit any toxic elements. It’s an inert material with no volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) or off-gassing.
